Product details and information are after Brooklyn's story

Meet Brooklyn Rose Medina

Brooklyn had the courage of a lion and a heart of gold. Her smile lit up every room, and her giggles were music to our ears. She lived in the moment and showed us unconditional love. She adored unicorns, nature, and animals like giraffes, rhinos, cats, dogs, and axolotls. Butterflies and bees fascinated her, and she loved playing and being outdoors, especially in cold weather. Before bed, she looked forward to reading books. She would choose three every night, but we would always read a few more after saying “just one more” (which usually meant three or four more, please!). Her parents always gave in until she fell asleep.

In April 2023, at two years old, Brooklyn’s parents noticed a lazy eye that appeared overnight. She also seemed to tire quickly. Her mother, Darline, took her to the eye doctor, who found slight facial drooping and difficulty walking straight. The doctor sent them to the emergency room for an MRI. On April 28th, Brooklyn was diagnosed with DIPG, a devastating, inoperable brain tumor.

Brooklyn started treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, undergoing 30 rounds of radiation and a clinical trial drug. Despite the treatments, she always kept her smile. She loved singing with her music therapist and seeing and spending time with her favorite nurse. Snuggle, the golden retriever, brought her comfort during tough times. Her stuffies, like her giraffe Gavin, would always accompany her on her trips back and forth to St. Jude. Gavin, for the most part, would be her sidekick during her St. Jude appointments.

On December 28th, 2023, Brooklyn’s condition worsened, and her parents chose to spend their remaining time with her filled with love and laughter. After a brave nine-month battle, Brooklyn gained her wings on February 17th, 2024. Her parents, Darline and Anthony, now work to raise awareness and find a cure for DIPG, continuing Brooklyn’s fight.
